Wobbuffet (Japanese: ソーナンス Sonans) is a Psychic-type Pokémon introduced in Generation II. It evolves from Wynaut starting at level 15. Wobbuffet is a funny little Pokémon that has a very distinctive look.
It is mostly blue, with a large rounded body and a long tail. Wobbuffet also has large, round eyes and small ears. It looks a bit like a beach ball with arms and legs!
Wobbuffet is known for its extremely pacific nature. In fact, it will often go out of its way to avoid fights or conflict. However, if Wobbuffet feels threatened, it will fight back using its large tail.
Wobbuffet also has the ability to reflect attacks back at its opponent. As a result, many trainers believe that Wobbuffet is actually a very powerful Pokémon! Wobbuffet is also famous for its “Wobbu-cry.”
This cry is actually very distinctive, and Wobbuffet will often use it as a way to communicate with other Pokémon. Wobbuffet is an homage to Japanese comedian Hayashiya Sanpei, who exclaimed his iconic catchphrase “That’s the way it is, ma’am!” with his hand on his forehead. Wobbuffet makes the same gesture, & Wobbuffet’s Japanese name Sonans means “That’s the way it is.”
Overall, Wobbuffet is a very unique and interesting Pokémon!
