Did you know that Orson Welles’ final role was in the 1986 film?
The Transformers made their debut on the big screen in 1986 when Transformers: The Movie, a feature-length adaptation, was released. They discover the planet-destroying intelligent cyber-planet Unicron, who would act as another enemy in the film, among the several confrontations between the Autobots and Decepticons.
The voice of Unicron would be provided by legendary actor and director Orson Welles, who had almost finished recording his portions before passing suddenly in 1985. Welles would receive a shoutout in the 2007 movie, as Bumblebee would repeatedly sample broadcasts while speaking with Sam Witwicky, including the iconic “War of the Worlds” broadcast.
