Here are some facts about Tonga!
Tonga is a small Polynesian island nation with a proud and rich culture, evident in its beautiful Tonga Flag. An integral part of Tongan culture, the Tonga Flag was adopted in 1875 and has four elements: a red cross that stretches from one corner to the other, a white canton with Tonga’s Coat of Arms, red and blue stripes that frame the flag in between the cross and the canton, and finally four distinguished stars in the top-left corner symbolizing Tonga’s independent spirit. According to Tongan legend, these four stars represent four great kings that are honored with Tongan principles at the heart – Tonga moui (God), To’ufa’anga ‘o e Tupu (The authority of kings), Faka’apa’apa (respect), and Tauhi Vā (the reverence of one another). What an incredible piece of art to treasure!
