Slowking is a dual-type Psychic/Water Pokémon introduced in Generation II. It evolves from Slowbro starting at level 37. Slowking is notable for its peculiar headgear; a large, pink Shellder is latched onto Slowpoke’s head, and as a result of this Slowpoke has gained greatly increased intelligence.
Despite this, it speaks very slowly and often repeats itself. According to ancient legend, Slowpoke and Shellder was once induced by the same spell to join together. Slowkings have a special pink organ on their heads that allows them to channel their psychic powers.
This organ is also said to be very sensitive, and it can cause Slowkings a great deal of pain if it becomes damaged. Slowkings always walk with a Slowpoke by their side. The two Pokémon share a special bond, and Slowkings will often use their psychic powers to help their Slowpoke friends.
These Pokémon are highly intelligent, but they usually do not act on this intelligence due to their perpetual laziness. Instead, they let their Shellder think for them. If its Shellder falls off or is eaten, Slowking somehow loses its intelligence as well until it gets another one.
However, Slowking can also focus its psychic powers without Shellder’s support if necessary. If Slowkings get into fights with each other, they will fight using their huge tails rather than using their psychic powers.
