Scyther is one of the few non-Legendary Pokémon to be featured as a boss in Pokémon Ranger. Scyther cannot evolve, but it can Mega Evolve into Mega Scyther using the Scytherite. Scyther is also one of the sixteen possible starters (together with Bulbasaur, Charmander, Squirtle, Caterpie, Weedle, Pidgey, Rattata, Spearow, Ekans, Sandshrew, Nidoran♀, Vulpix, Jigglypuff, Zubat, and Oddish) in Pokémon Red and Blue that Professor Oak gives to Red at the beginning of his journey. Scyther is number 123 in the National Pokédex.
