Rudolph is a Christmas icon beloved by adults and children alike due to his unique red nose, his charming list of misfit reindeer friends, and his impressive skills as a loyal companion to Santa. He may have been immortalized in the 1949 classic Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer. But, he has been around much longer than that. Rudolph’s story began in 1939 when Robert May wrote Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer as a want ad for Montgomery Ward Department Store. Since then he has become one of the most recognizable symbols of Christmas! Even more so today with the help of merchandise, television specials, and performances featuring him all over the world!

Here are some great things about  Rudolph:

Rudolph the red-nosed reindeer has been a part of many childhoods! With his easily recognizable Rudolph nose guiding Santa and his sleigh right to your door. He is an iconic reindeer, but there are some fun facts about him that you may not have known! For example, Santa does not use him solely for his ability to light up a dark night. Rudolph also has improved navigational abilities due to the fame of his bright red nose. Additionally, he gains and loses companions each year from Santa’s usual list of deer, depending on the difficulty of routes that need to be taken for Christmas Eve deliveries. He may have been born with a unique feature, but it turns out he had many other talents that make him an even more important part of Santa’s gang!
