Purugly is a Normal-type Pokémon introduced in Generation IV. It evolves from Glameow starting at level 38. Purugly is a feline Pokémon with short, oily, blue fur.
Most of its face is white, except for its black nose, red eyes, and prominent whiskers. It has a short tail with a small tuft of fur at the end. On its forehead is a yellow “X” mark. It has six stubby digits on each paw: three toes in front and one dewclaw behind.
Each toe has a black claw. It is a bulky Pokémon that stands upright on two legs. Purugly appears to be based on a tuxedo cat with some Persian cat characteristics.
Its Japanese name may also derive from プルプル (purupuru), the sound of shaking fat. Purugly may also be based on 庶民 (しょみん shunmin), common people or plebeians, due to both its status as an evolution of Glameow and its position as one of its Pokédex entries describing it as “voracious”.
