- Cardcaptor Sakura is based on a shojo manga series of the same name by Clamp. The manga was originally published in Nakayoshi from May 1996 to June 2000 and collected into eight tankobon volumes by Kodansha.
- The anime television series was directed by Morio Asaka and produced by Madhouse. It aired on NHK from April to October 2000, consisting of 70 episodes.
- Cardcaptor Sakura was licensed for release in North America by Nelvana, and broadcast on the Fox Kids Network from June 2000 to December 2001. It was also dubbed into English and released on VHS and DVD by Geneon Entertainment (formerly Pioneer LDC).

- The first video game, Cardcaptor Sakura: Clow Card Magic, was developed and published by Takara for the PlayStation console in March 2000.
