President’s Day began on February 22nd, 1885, as a tribute to President George Washington’s birthday on February 22nd, 1732. While President’s Day is no longer held on George Washington’s actual birthday due to several name changes, it is still held every year on the third Monday in February as a day of rest and celebration for all U.S. presidents, past and present.
