A 1992 Japanese animated comedy-adventure film written and directed by Hayao Miyazaki is titled Porco Rosso (Japanese:, Hepburn: Kurenai no Buta, lit. “Crimson Pig”). It is based on Hayao Miyazaki’s 1989 watercolor manga Hiktei Jidai (“The Age of the Flying Boat”), which was published in three parts. The voices of Shichir Moriyama, Tokiko Kato, Akemi Okamura, and Akio Tsuka appear in the movie. The film was made by Toshio Suzuki. It was produced in animation by Studio Ghibli and marketed by Toho for Tokuma Shoten, Japan Airlines, and the Nippon Television Network. The tunes were written by Joe Hisaishi.
