Nincada is a Bug and Ground-type Pokémon. Nincada is a small, pale tan insect Pokémon with five legs. It has two long, thin feelers on its head, and two blunt claws on each of its feet.
Its back is dark brown and covered in thin extrusions that somewhat resemble leaves or feathers. Nincada can Fahrenheit to 27.2 within 3 minutes by using the heat stored in its body. It evolves into Ninjask starting at level 20, which then evolves into Shedinja starting at level 40 if Nincada is holding an Item called a Shed Shell when it levels up.
Nincada lives underground for almost their entire lives except for when they emerge to molt and mate. After Nincada hatched from its Egg, it quickly tunneled deep underground, where it spend almost its whole life looking for food. Nincada is known to shed its skin many times during its life; according to one Pokédex entry, a Nincada shedding its skin symbolizes the coming of spring.
Nincada is the only known Pokémon that can learn the move Sand Attack via leveling up. Nincada can be seen as a parallel to real-life cicadas.
