Mawile is a Psychic/Steel-type Pokémon introduced in Generation III. Mawile is notable for its giant steel jaws, which are actually two black Mawile using their “horn drill” move to connect at the base. While it is not known to evolve into or from any other Pokémon, Mawile can Mega Evolve into Mega Mawile using the Mawilite.
Mawile is number 303 in the National Pokédex and is known as the Deceiver Pokémon. Mawile’s coloring tends to be black with some white accents. Mawile’s head consists of two large, black pincers that resemble a steel trap.
Mawile also has a small mouth and large, glittering eyes. Mawiles are generally found in mountainous regions. Mawiles are very gentle and loving by nature, but their pincers can cause serious damage if they feel threatened.
Mawiles are also known to be very good at deception, which is how they got their nickname of “The Deceiver Pokémon.” One fun fact about Mawile is that it was actually designed by Ken Sugimori’s wife! Another fun fact is that Mawile is based on the mythological creature called the mawari-oni, which is said to have iron teeth that it uses to lure people into its mouth so it can eat them!
