July Fourth is always a time of celebration, and there are some pretty fun facts that surround this American holiday.

For example, July Fourth has only been an official federal holiday since 1941. John Adams famously declared July 2nd to be the day of Independence back in 1776, and it wasn’t until July 4th that Congress finished the 1st draft of the Declaration of Independence! It’s also worth noting that July 4th, as celebrated for decades prior to 1971, was actually dated July 2nd. Since it had become such a beloved tradition to commemorate July 4th as America’s Independence Day, Congress officially moved the date from July 2nd to July 4th in July 1971! Celebrating America’s Birthday on July Fourth is a great way to reflect on all we are thankful for as Americans and honor our heritage together.
