While Jonathan Joestar may have been the series’ forerunner, Joseph was JoJo and was responsible for creating the framework for subsequent lead characters. Not only did he instantly seize Jonathan’s position as the primary character, but he also took on that role for the next three seasons.
He plays a relatively little part in Season IV, but he is the primary character in Season II and Part III.
By volume count, JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure is the longest-running manga series published by Shueisha, with 131 tankbon volumes of its chapters as of September 2021. Stardust Crusaders, the third chapter of the manga, was adapted into a 13-episode original video animation series that was created and distributed by A.P.P.P. from 1993 to 2002.
