Captain Alberto Larraguibel and “Huaso” won the Guinness World Record for the highest horse jump in Chile in 1949. They leaped 2.47 meters together!
Huaso, who was formerly known as Faithful, was born in Chile in 1933. His future was not looking good after a poor racing career, a near-fatal injury destroying his new owner’s dressage hopes, and an unimpressive start with showjumping. Huaso, however, ran away and leaped the more than two-meter-high enclosure wall one day while he was being taught without a rider. When an Army horse master came to pass and saw this amazing jump, he bought him right away.
