DID YOU KNOW…
In Hawaiian, hibiscus is commonly referred to as ma’o hau hele or pua aloalo.
When fully grown, hibiscus shrubs can grow as tall as 15 feet (4.5 meters), but the average height is only about 3 feet (0.9 meters). On the islands that make up the state of Hawaii, these shrubs are widespread.
The yellow hibiscus, also known as Hibiscus Brackenridgei in botanical terminology, is the state flower of Hawaii. Due to the deterioration of its natural habitat, this flower has not been listed as an endangered species; therefore, it is maintained and cared for in Hawaii. The yellow hibiscus blooms all year long, but the flowering season lasts from after spring to summer, when it produces the most stunning, vibrant blooms and the biggest hibiscus flowers on earth.
