Vegetables are somehow connected to each Saiyan name.
For example, Goku’s Saiyan name, Kakarot, is derived from the name of a carrot. Broly is called for the vegetable. The Chinese cabbage variety known as Napa cabbage inspired the name of the Nappa.
Vegeta’s name is actually simply the first half of the phrase vegetables, while Raditz is named after a radish.
And the reason for this is that the word Saiyan is a popular anagram of the Japanese word Yasai, which means vegetable; however, they added the letter N to it.
The first version of Dragon Ball was a spoof of Journey to the West.
Because of this, characters from Journey to the West were initially satirized in the creation of Bulma, Goku, Ghulam Yamcha, and Puar.
Goku’s boring personality bothered Torishima, the editor of Toriyama during the early years of the Dragon Ball manga.
