Here are some fun facts about Gloom that Trainers may not know!

Gloom is a dual-type Grass/Poison Pokémon introduced in Generation I. Gloom evolves from Oddish at level 21 and evolves into Vileplume when exposed to a Leaf Stone or into Bellossom when exposed to a Water Stone. Gloom is a small, blue Pokémon with leafy growths on its head.

These growths are larger on a female Gloom than on a male. Gloom has red eyes and four stumpy legs. Its arms are short with three small fingers on each hand. It has great sniffing power, able to smell lost people and find them even when they are at the end of their strength.

Gloom gives off foul fumes that give it the nickname “The Weed Pokémon”. Underneath Gloom’s flower is black sacs that exude an incredibly foul odor. Gloom secretes sticky sweet nectar from the tips of its orb-like flowers. The nectar attracts insects, which Gloom devours.

According to Pokédex entries, Gloom’s eyes water constantly because of the noxious vapors it emits. However, instead of tears, a honey-like syrup drips from them, which is actually quite tasty. Gloom’s English name was originally going to be “Weepinbell”, but was changed for unknown reasons; Gloom and Weepinbell are the only non-fully-evolved Grass-type starter final forms that are not pure Grass-type.
