Gastrodon is a dual-type Water/Ground Pokémon introduced in Generation IV. It evolves from Shellos starting at level 30. Gastrodon has two different appearances: West Sea (pink and brown) and East Sea (blue and green), found on the respective sides of Sinnoh’s mountain range.
Gastrodon is a large sea slug-like Pokémon that possesses both properties of an animal and a plant. It has a reddish-brown body with a yellow underside. On its back are two large, green spiracles that it uses to breathe on land.
Gastrodon also has two small, yellow eyes located on the front of its head. Gastrodon’s most notable feature is the large, green symbiotic algae that grow on its back. Gastrodon is capable of exuding a thick, purple slime from its body to deter predators.
This Pokémon is also capable of camouflaging itself among rocks and seaweed. Gastrodon feeds on plankton and algae. When Gastrodon sheds its skin, the algae growing on its back is eaten by shrimp.
Gastrodon is one of the few Pokémon that can learn the move Mud Bomb. Gastrodon made its main series debut in “Babolat vs Gastrodon”, under the ownership of Miley. Gastrodon is very slow on land, but they are faster in water.
