Few people are aware of the Fullmetal Alchemist information about how Alphonse’s voice was recorded. Edward secured Alphonse’s spirit to a suit of armor when he lost his body while undergoing human transmutation. Al’s voice sounds like it is emanating from inside the armor when he speaks. Fans speculated that the studio may have edited or used filters to Alphonse’s voice to create the effect. In reality, there isn’t any editing; the studio just created the illusion by positioning an empty bowl in front of the microphone. Since then, many anime programs have employed this approach to create voice textures resembling those of Alphonse.
