- Early nineteenth-century carousel advertisements in America claimed that the ride was highly recommended by doctors as a means of promoting blood circulation.
- One of the rumored C.W. The Supreme Allied Commander of D-Day during World War II and later U.S. President, Dwight D. Eisenhower, was one of Parker Company’s most renowned former workers. President is reported to have worked at the Parker plant outside his home in Abilene, Kansas, as a little boy, sanding carousel horses.
- One of the rarest “menagerie” figures on the carousel is St. Bernard (animals other than horses).
- During the “golden age” of wooden carousels in the United States (the early 1880s to early 1930s), between 2,000 and 3,000 carousels were constructed; currently, only 165–175 are still in service.
