Arthur is a Canadian/American animated educational television series for children, created by Cookie Jar Group (formerly known as Cinar) and WGBH for PBS. The show is set in the fictional American city of Elwood City and revolves around the lives of eight-year-old Arthur Read, an anthropomorphic aardvark, his friends and family, and their daily interactions with each other.
Arthur was one of the first programs on PBS to be carried in high-definition when the network converted to the format in 1999. In October 2019, it was announced that Arthur will end its run with a two-part television movie, entitled Arthur’s Final Episode, to air in 2020.
