The names of dinosaurs are not always constant. For instance, when Othniel C. Marsh first found the bones of a large sauropod, he gave it the name Apatosaurus. Later, when he found larger, more comparable bones, he gave it the name Brontosaurus. However, later scientists chose to change “Brontosaurus” back to “Apatosaurus” since what Marsh believed to be adult Brontosaurus bones were actually adult Apatosaurus bones.
