Did you know that Dimorphodon means “two-form tooth”?
This nickname comes from the fact that Dimorphodon had different-sized teeth in its upper and lower jaw. This small pterosaur also had a tail stiffened by bony rods, similar to modern birds’ tails. Dimorphodon lived during the early Jurassic period and had a wingspan of about 3 feet. Despite its size, Dimorphodon was a powerful flyer and fed primarily on small animals like insects and lizards.
But its tiny arms were too weak for hunting, so Dimorphodons probably caught their prey while in flight. So grab your crayons and color in some Dimorphodon fun facts with our Dimorphodon Dinosaur Coloring Page! Just don’t forget to add those distinctively different teeth. Happy coloring!
