Chimchar is a Fire-type Pokémon introduced in Generation 4. It is known as the Chimp Pokémon. Chimchar has a Blaze Ability, which powers up Fire-type moves when the Pokémon is in trouble.
Chimchar is a small, bipedal monkey-like Pokémon. It has dark gray fur with a red blaze running from its forehead and down its back to the tip of its tail. Red rings also encircle its big eyes.
Its hands and feet have two reddish digits each, and it has a triangular growth on its abdomen. Chimchar’s upper body is muscular, while its lower body is thinner in comparison. Both arms and legs end in sharp claws.
It can curl into a ball, using the flame on its tail as a shield from enemy attacks. Chimchar can create powerful blasts of heat by breathing fire through its mouth. When Chimchar wants to express itself, it shakes its flames vigorously.
Chimchar is born with fully-developed flames, which they use to roast berries before eating them. Chimchar is very agile and known to run and climb up steep slopes with ease. In the wild, Chimchar lives in groups in forests near mountains.
Chimchar evolves into Monferno starting at level 14, which evolves into Infernape starting at level 36.
