Camerupt is a dual-type Fire/Ground Pokémon introduced in Generation III. It is not known to evolve into or from any other Pokémon. Camerupt has a Mega Evolution, activated by using the Cameruptite, which causes it to become a Fire/Psychic-type.
Camerupt is a large, bovine Pokémon with a red hide. On its back are two volcanoes that are almost always active, spewing magma. Camerupt is able to relieve the pressure building up within these volcanoes by firing magma and ash out of the crater-like openings on its back.
It usually keeps the volcanoes dormant by letting the steam escape through its nostrils. If Camerupt becomes agitated, the temperature of the volcanoes will rise and they will erupt. Camerupt’s hooves are specially designed to dissipate heat from volcanic eruptions and prevent Camerupt from being hurt by its own eruption.
Camerupt is usually found in mountainous areas. Camerupt is based on a Bison and a Volcano. Its name may come from the words “camber,” referring to the angle of its hump, and “erupt.” Camerupt may also be based on the legendary bull Charuela.
