Did you realize that Bela Lugosi inspired the name Legoshi?
Itagaki disclosed that Legoshi was named after Bela Lugosi, the actor most closely associated with the character Dracula, in a tankobon’s side materials. His name has been on her mind ever since she first heard it as a child. She considered “Lugosi” to be a good fit for Legoshi since it sounded “beautiful” yet “suspicious.” It is appropriate that Lugosi played the fortune teller in The Wolf Man.
After VIZ Media obtained the localization’s rights, “Legoshi” was established as the accepted method to spell the wolf’s name. However, the initial fan translations frequently read “Legoshi” as opposed to “Legosi,” which led to misunderstanding.
