Here are some fun facts about Baltoy that Trainers may not know!

Baltoy is a dual-type Psychic/Ground Pokémon introduced in Generation III. Baltoy is a small clay doll-like Pokémon that is primarily yellow in coloration. It has a cylindrical body with a black “equator” line running around the center.

Baltoy has black, beady eyes and no visible mouth. Baltoy has two thin, black antennae protruding from the top of its head, which it uses to sense the world around it. Baltoy also has two stubby arms and legs.

Baltoy’s Tamil name, Parattai, means “clay pot”. Baltoy evolves into Claydol starting at level 36. Baltoy can have one of two Abilities: Levitate, which gives it an immunity to Ground-type moves; or Analytic (hidden ability), which increases Baltoy’s Base Attack Power if it attacks last during a turn.

Baltoy is the only Pokémon with the levitate ability that is weak to Earthquake. Baltoy often lives in groups deep in deserts, moving only because their habitat is being destroyed by shifting sands. Baltoys seem to be based on terra-cotta statuettes called “baltoy”.

Baltoys are also based on top spinning toys called “whirligigs”, which have been used since ancient times in many cultures for good luck or as part of ceremonies. The fact that it evolves into Claydol may also be a reference to the moai of Easter Island; both have an oversized head sitting atop a narrow base, with stubby arms near the base.
